There is something grounding about a winter wedding in St. Louis. The air feels crisp, the city quieter than usual, and when snow begins to fall, the world slows down in the best way. Maggie and Jared’s January wedding at The Jewel Box and Willow St. Louis was one of those days that felt intentional, timeless, and deeply personal.

As a Saint Louis wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of photographing countless couples across the city and beyond, but some days stick with me. Maggie and Jared’s wedding was filled with meaningful details, thoughtful touches, and moments that will stay with their family for a lifetime.

Getting Ready in Downtown St. Louis

The day began at the Embassy Suites in downtown St. Louis, where Maggie and her bridesmaids prepared surrounded by love, laughter, and anticipation. Personalized touches set the tone for the morning: a handwritten letter from Jared to each bridesmaid, soft candlelight, and the wedding invitation suite carefully styled for photography.

First looks are always a favorite part of a wedding day, and Maggie shared hers with her dad, her bridesmaids, and eventually Jared himself. Each moment was genuine, filled with joy and a little nervous energy, the kind of emotion that makes a gallery feel alive and timeless.

Capturing Portraits at The Muny

From downtown, we headed to the Municipal Theatre, otherwise known as The Muny, one of St. Louis’s most iconic locations for wedding portraits. The stone architecture provided the perfect backdrop for STL wedding photographers to capture classic, refined imagery. The wedding party portraits were full of movement, laughter, and personality, reflecting Maggie and Jared’s fun-loving energy while keeping the portraits bright and timeless.

The clean lines and open space at The Muny allowed for beautiful natural light even on a winter day, which is key for any Saint Louis wedding photographer aiming for crisp, true-to-life imagery.

Ceremony at The Jewel Box

Next, we traveled to The Jewel Box for the ceremony and family portraits. This venue is a gem in St. Louis, offering a light-filled, airy environment even in the depths of January. Maggie’s sister officiated the wedding, adding an intimate, personal touch that resonated with every guest.

Candles lined the ceremony space, creating warmth and contrast against the winter light outside. Guests participated in traditions that made the day uniquely Maggie and Jared’s: a book filled with letters from family and friends, newspapers chronicling their love story, and a custom trunk to store keepsakes from their day.

The attention to detail was remarkable. From Maggie’s all-black attire for her bridesmaids to the subtle seasonal touches in florals, every element was curated with intention. These are the moments I love most to photograph as a St. Louis wedding photographer — moments that feel authentic and will be meaningful for decades.

Reception at The Willow

After the ceremony, we traveled back downtown to The Willow, where the couple’s reception awaited. Guests were greeted with the couple’s favorite baseball-themed food and more candles, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Maggie and Jared made a point to visit every table after dinner, sharing laughs and heartfelt congratulations with their friends and family. The night then transitioned seamlessly into dancing, with Phat Mixx Productions keeping the energy high.

The Willow provided the perfect balance of elegance and fun, a space where intimate details shine and candid moments happen naturally. Whether it was the way the light danced off the glass votives or the joy in the couple’s eyes as they twirled on the dance floor, every moment felt effortless to capture.

Thoughtful Details & Intentional Design

This wedding was full of personal touches:

  • Handwritten letters to the bridesmaids from the groom
  • A book from family and friends with individual letters to the bride
  • A custom trunk to hold keepsakes
  • Black-and-white attire that provided a timeless color palette
  • Candles galore, creating warmth and depth throughout the day

These are the details that make a gallery feel cohesive, intentional, and timeless — the type of imagery that couples love to revisit years later. For Maggie and Jared, their focus on personalization elevated the day, making it feel uniquely theirs while still classic and elegant.

A Reveal Celebration & Legacy

After the wedding, Maggie and Jared crafted a beautiful album during their reveal celebration. This is the moment when the work of a Saint Louis wedding photographer truly comes together: a gallery that tells a story, from the quiet anticipation of the morning to the laughter-filled dance floor at night.

Every image reflects the care and thought put into the wedding itself. From the glow of candlelight to the crisp winter light at The Jewel Box, these photographs capture the essence of their day in a way that is timeless, bright, and classic.
